Gas Assisted Injection Moulding

The main characteristic of Gas Assisted Injection Moulding is that it allows the manufacture of hollow pieces, saving material and reducing weight.
This technique makes possible the optimisation of the manufactured pieces, maintaing the mechanic properties with a lower material needs.
Additionally, thanks to the pressure that gas applies in a uniform way inside the piece, we get an extra compactation pressure, increasing the external part quality.
Process times are significantly reduced, due to lower injection times of polymer and lower cooling times.
The types of pieces where biggest advantages are obtained with this manufacture technique are:
- Pieces with little distribution of thicknesses.
- Ribbed pieces.
- Thick pieces with uniform thickness.
